Hmmm, cheers, EMS. I might have to give this Kimbra a closer look, I think.
ReplyDeleteI quite like her music. I'm not really keen on her "tweeness" - the "kooky" hand movements etc when she's singing on these videos gives me the irrates, but I really like the songs. I'd buy the album, but probably wouldn't go see her play live because I'd want to do something like smack her head with the microphone.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't need to be all kooky and twee, she has a good voice - I think she needs to let her voice grab the listener's attention & worry less about moving her hands around.
But maybe that's just me. And I totally talk with my hands so, glass houses and all that.
Despite listening to it several times, I must confess that I hadn't actually watched it until now. Her performance is a little ... distracting, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteExactly. If I'd judged the song based on the video, I'd have given it oh maybe 20 seconds? I hate all that flailing around. Just sing the fricking song already.
ReplyDeleteBut the great thing about You Tube is that you can find good sounds with average visuals, ignore the visuals, go about your everyday internets life & actually find some good music somewhere in between there. Win-win.
