I have a total girl crush on Duffy. Her voice, her hair, her clothes. I wish I had all of them. But, because I don't and can only crush out on her, here are some Youtube clips of her singing and sounding all awesome and stuff.

I'd not heard of either of these two, but they both seem to have rather lovely voices. For the most part, there doesn't seem, to me, to be too much going on with the music in most of these; but I do like the "Breaking My Own Heart" one, and have listened to it a few times over.
ReplyDeleteTwo random thoughts: 1) Even when I was young and smoking was cool and rebellious and grown-up (strange how teenager logic works) and nobody cared about the health-risks of, well, anything; I couldn't get past how bloody disgusting it was. 2) I can't remember ever having a "girl-crush" on a real person; only fictional ones. Maybe my standards are too high.
I quite like that there isn't too much going on musically - I think it lets the vocals actually be the focus, which is handy because the vocals are actually good. Some of Duffy's latest songs aren't as good though, her most recent album doesn't seem to showcase her voice terribly well.
ReplyDeleteI've always had this weird thing going on with smoking. I've never smoked in my life, but my dad used to (he quit when we were quite young kids), but I can remember the smell from when I was little, so every time I smell cigarette smoke (not heaps of it like in a seedy pub or anything, but just one person having a durry) it kind of reminds me of "home". Very odd and totally not politically correct.
My "girl crushes" tend to be more along the lines of wanting to be that girl, not necessarily about wanting to snog them or anything. And when that's the case, it's a good thing to have high standards!
