I've been reading Esme & The Laneway for absolutely ages and ages. I stumbled across it one day and couldn't get enough of her fantastic vintage style and stunning photos. I then promptly sat down with a cuppa and trawled through her archives just so I could see more prettiness.
So I was very chuffed when Marianne agreed to participate in my Fast Five feature.
Here is what she said ...
Hmm, that is a tough one! We have literally just hung up a wooden printer's tray, and put little nic nacs, lead type (and washed our hands afterwards, of course!) letters and so on in it. I have a big old wooden Victorian style mantlepiece complete with two shelves and a mirror that is completely inappropriate for our mid-century apartment, but I love it anyway, and it has a good collection of old hardback books. Finally, I like the little round Rococo-esque pictures I have here and there. So, not one particular piece, but a few things!
2) Which blog do you NEVER skip reading (no matter how busy, crook, cranky you are)?
At the moment, it's Elsa Billgren's blog, Need Help Dressing. It's full of colour and is very uplifting and inspiring, and I like how it is about all sorts of things, as well as great vintage dresses.
3) Where is your favourite place to get coffee and/or eggs + bacon and/or pancakes?
Mixed Business in Clifton Hill for amazing porridge, Penny Farthing in Northcote for the avocado toast and Boundary Cafe in Preston for the best coffee in the North!
4) What is your favourite font?
Oh, tough question. I used to be a graphic designer, and have spent many hours perusing the perfect font. I like simple old classics. Gill Sans is a great historical font. I like Mrs Eaves, too; a nice, perfectly just-wonky serif font.
5) What is your favourite city to travel to?
Oh, so many! So many. I just went to Brisbane a couple of weeks ago, and absolutely loved it there. It's my favourite Australian city and I can't wait to go back. Further afield, I love London (of course!) and can't wait to go back to Paris for a bit!
Thanks Marianne for answering my Fast Five - and for sharing those gorgeous vintage threads and those wonderful photos on Esme & The Laneway!
