TO THE POINT

I've got to warn you - there's a tonne of photos in this post. You may just get a sore scrolling finger. Feel free to take a break in the middle if you need one.

When I got restless and couldn't sit still last weekend I took myself for a drive to Boat Harbour Beach - where my dad spent some time growing up and where I spent some time growing up too.

One of my favourite places to go for a walk is a small point just near the main beach. It's a short walk, not too strenuous, but there is quite a lot to see.

As I got back in the car, and was checking out the shots I managed to get - I put the camera away, started the car and was pulling out when I spotted a group of pretty pink and grey galahs having their lunch. I considered getting out and trying to snap them, but figured I would probably scare them off and I didn't want to be the meanie who disturbed their dinner. So I let them be. But they were beautiful!

Seen any wildlife lately?

WEEKLY STILLS // 19.05.13 // REST.LESS

// THOSE PJS SITTING IN THE SUN // RAIN AND SUN ALL WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF EACH OTHER // DETAILS OF SOME SMALL CANVASES I PLAYED WITH LAST YEAR // THE VOTIVE MUM GAVE ME FOR MY BIRTHDAY IN MARCH // WINDOWSILL DETAILS FROM THE SPARE ROOM // THERE ARE STILL TOMATOES GROWING IN THE BACKYARD // OLD SCHOOL VIGNETTE AT MY BEDSIDE - PHONE AND BOOK // THRIFTED // WANDERINGS AT BOAT HARBOUR //

This week I've been both restless and have been resting less. I'm not sleeping terribly well and need to find a way to firstly cope with my frustrations in the day job and secondly get my brain to switch off so I can sleep at night. Because a cranky, sleep deprived teacher of teenagers is not going to work on any level for anyone.

Because I'm having a hard time finding solutions to these problems, during the day and particularly on weekends I'm finding myself quite restless and not happy to sit still. I'm taking advantage of that by going on long drives, listening to music and taking photos.

The last two shots above were taken on one such jaunt to Boat Harbour Beach. My parents live on the highway, and the beach is just a short distance away. My grandfather used to own a shop there, which was torn down a few years ago to make way for boutique accommodation. I miss the old shop and caravan park - it had a nice, retro, old-school feel to it. Nowadays - the shacks and accommodation are crazy expensive. Regardless of all that, I still love the place. More photos to come later in the week.
