On the weekend mum and dad took me for another afternoon drive and afternoon tea. This time it was to Annsleigh Gardens at Ridgley. I'd never been, so wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. There's a sweet little tea room that does a decent meal, drinks and whatnot and the gardens themselves are bigger than expected (well, bigger than I expected.)
There's an eclectic mix of styles throughout the gardens and what I really enjoyed was as you wandered through each section you weren't sure what else was to come, but you were beckoned to go around the next bend just to see what was there.
I have another post coming up with the rest of my shots and I plan to add them to my Flickr page soon as well. Check back if you're keen to see them.

POST-THRIFTING PLUNDER // FRANKIE GOODNESS // SUMMER HAS ARRIVED
First of all, thanks to everyone who left such kind comments last week - and to everyone who has been so supportive during a difficult year. I think it's fair to write this one off as an annus horribilis, as the queen would put it. It has been one of those years where every time you pick yourself back up, something else arrives to belt you down. Again. And again. It gets harder and harder to pick yourself back up - but somehow, there's some kind of reserve left in the tank and you just do ... because you have to (because, let's face it, others can't and probably would very much like to.)
This week, among the sadness and loss, there were some small moments of life and loveliness as well (and isn't that really the way it ought to be?) I found a very pretty vintage book and old German (what I'm assuming is a) mustard pot (any experts out there have a better idea than me?) I picked up a retro laminated chopping board (which will be purely for photographic prop use - lord only knows what has been put on it in the past.) My prizes from Frankie arrived - a calendar, diary and book of wrapping paper. Is it just me, or does Frankie do the best things ever?
In the garden, the tomato plant is shooting up and starting to blossom, there are more mushrooms that I plan to eat on toast (fried in garlic and butter), the lettuce and herbs are coming along and there are more pink geraniums than I can count. I noticed one lone white one a while ago and now there are more of these as well.
I bought some of my favourite stone fruit yesterday morning - nectarines and white peaches, I also bought a punnet of strawberries. I think I'd like to have them with vanilla ice cream (but most likely the strawberries on their own.) Have you got a good recipe for preserving stone fruit? Feel free to share in the comments if you do.

A little while ago, I decided to give blog sponsorship a go. It was a very slow go. Mostly because (as has often been the case with blogging this year) other stuff got in the way of tending to it. And I really do believe that for these things to work, you have to tend to them. I stop short of thinking that you need to talk to them like plants though, because that would just be nuts.
I then decided to offer an ad swap over the spring months. I thought it would be a good way of connecting with other bloggers and sharing the love a little. I'm so pleased I did because there were three awesome bloggers who took me up on that offer. To say thank you to them, I thought I'd give them each a little shout-out. Make sure you click on the links to see their blogs!
