Inside 'Insider' magazine

{Click to read this post in full}

At my school there is a student-created magazine called 'Insider'. It's pretty much brand spanking new, having completed its first publication last year and the second issue is out now.

I'm pleased about this for a number of reasons. The first being that I think it's brilliant that a magazine like this is produced for the kids, by the kids. I wish there had been something like that at my school when I was a high school student. It would have been right up my alley.

The second reason I'm pleased, is because they've chosen to feature some of my photographs from a Made With Love Market Bazaar earlier in the year! You can see my photos at the top of each page of the article.

I think the students have done a great job with the production of this magazine - I'm looking forward to seeing what the next issue brings.

Weekend in Melbourne

{Click to read this post.}

This time last weekend I was lucky enough to grab a quick getaway to Melbourne to spend some time drinking coffee (and champagne) with the fella. You know how bloggers often have cutesy nicknames for their significant others? Mine has one. It's The Colonel and I'd only ever tell you the story behind it if you got me drunk, so you won't hear it here. Hopefully. For his sake and mine.

Anyway, it was so great to see each other in real life, not just online or over the phone - and actually have face to face conversations.

Saturday morning breakfast

The hotel room

Spent some cash wisely

The protesters and the journalists

Attack of the giant freaky babies (we named the one on the left Morris)

Rodents! And an owl!

Dinner on Saturday night. Bit fancy. Very yum.

Loving this chick's hair

Bit like Paris, but closer to home

Happy days

A mixtape for spring

Click to read more.

Spring has definitely sprung. These are the songs I'm listening to on high rotation and they are getting me all excited for the summer holidays.

{Don't worry, I do enjoy spring for what it is, but oh my lordy I'm keen for summer this year. Good things are afoot, I can feel it in my bones.}

Songs that get stuck in your head - "Lorelai" by Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes album Helplessness Blues. Image source.

Yes I watch too much TV and yes, I thought of this TV character when I heard this song was called "Lorelai". So sue me. {Don't sue me.}

Image source.
It might be because I recently bought the DVD box set of the whole entire series. All seven seasons. The whole kit and kaboodle. And I've been watching it basically non-stop since then. So, I might just be seeing Gilmore Girls references where there are not really Gilmore Girls references.

Or, Fleet Foxes and I are into the same TV shows. Whichever.

Oh. And, if you weren't aware? This album is freaking awesome. Listen to it. Trust.

Of tea parties and tulip festivals

Pretty flower display from Pip's market stall

{Click on this post to read more}

My very {very} small home town gets a little crazy around this time of year. The weather starts to improve, daylight savings hits us, the tulips start blooming and everyone seems to do this massive, collective sigh of relief as we all know those long, cold winter days are behind us and we've got spring blooms and summer days to look forward to. There are flowers and music and there's food and coffee {thank goodness}. There are kidlets running around like crazy and parents trying to catch up {or not, whatever}. Either way, everything is a bit brighter and that's always nice, is it not?

This weekend is the Tulip Festival at Wynyard - and it's a great time of year. As I was driving to the Made With Love Market Bazaar this morning, there were cars and people everywhere, the sun was shining {it's raining now, by the way, but that's not the point, the sun was shining before and that's all that counts} and all was good with the world {all is still good with the world}.

Below is a little titbit of the goings-on from today's market. More photos will be appearing on my Flickr page rather soon-ish, so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, scroll and enjoy...

Claire - Baby Boudoir
Claire's hand-crafted Wynyard postcards
Cupcakes from Buttercup Cakes
Michelle's dongles {giggle - that sounds a bit rude!}
Sandra's stunning Grace of Autumn dress
Fabulous picnic set from Sarah

There's more {there's always more} but I'll save those for another time. What will also be saved for another time is: a birthday present for my favourite & awesome biological sister {sure, I only have one biological sister, but she's still my favourite - and I'm not just saying that because I'm late getting this present to her}, a stack of photos I took at our Mad Hatter's exhibition today, and a trip to Melbourne next weekend to meet up with ... well, yunno, a certain someone. Aherm. As you were! xox

Summer plans & schemes

Things are afoot. Summer-ish types of things. Planning and scheming for sunny days and summer holidays. I'm going to Falls at Marion Bay this year for New Years and so chuffed. I can't wait. We're hiring a camper van this time, which is a bit fancy, but very cool. I have to admit I'm not really a tent kind of girl. Bit of a wuss really.

There's a stack of acts I'm looking forward to seeing and I love the fact that you get to see new bands and artists live and get to fall in heart with them as well. The awesome company and warm weather doesn't hurt either!

Aside from all of that planning and scheming for the not too distant future, I am actually trying to enjoy the present - which has been made easy by the sunny skies and spring blooms and warm(ish) air buzzing around the place lately.

It has been a long weekend here for the Burnie show - and wouldn't you know it, like clockwork smack bang on Thursday evening I get a sore throat. Bummer. Yesterday was a write-off, felt like crud and so so so sleepy. Today is a bit better thank goodness. I hate getting sick - let alone getting sick on a day off!

Oh, and before I go, if you are local, don't forget two very important things, firstly remember to wind your clocks forward tomorrow (huzzah for the start of daylight savings - now it really does feel like summer is on it's way) and next weekend get set for the Made With Love Market Bazaar on Saturday the 8th of October. This month's theme is {Tea Party} to coincide with our exhibition at the Wonders of Wynyard. More details to come!
